Hey y’all… you’re probably visiting this page because you’re wondering what’s up for 2025? Sadly, my silence was because Vail double booked a Pepsi competition over our dates, throwing much into question.  While we all worked hard to find a new path forward (and I thank those at the company who tried), the options left to us amounted to producing queer culture for straight consumption, which wouldn’t have been fun for anyone, not of the community spirit we had come to know and love. So what’s next?

Rather than continuing to push this particular boulder up the hill, I decided to step away from producing Queerski, to create space in my life for other projects.  Cancelling was not an easy decision, and ultimately it came down to one question: given the age we live in, is skiing the thing I want to build community around?  For me, the answer was no, that there’s deeper work I can do; in part, because groups like Pride Ride are already doing awesome work in the industry / at independent resorts.

I expect this news will raise a ton of questions… While I don’t know what the future has in store (maybe one of you wants to take the reins and start a new chapter for Queerski?), I can promise that my passion for gathering community isn’t over.  Now more than ever, we need safe harbors in which to connect and play - spaces away from politicians and corporations where we can remember who we are.

I want to thank everyone who got involved and made Queerski possible.  Your support and the conversations we got to have along the way were easily my favorite part of this process.  You inspired me, and shared lessons that I’ll carry into whatever comes next.  Maybe it’ll be winter sports, maybe something entirely new.  The only way to find out is to stay connected.  So if you’re ready to dig deeper into intentional community design, I hope you’ll continue reaching out.

Until then… thank you for being part of the journey.
